Making Marriages Work by Uncovering Secrets of Sex, Love, and Trust with Drs. John and Julie Gottman

EMDR Basic Training with Compassion Works

I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I know what it is
like to be in a dysfunctional family and I wanted to learn how to help
other families find healing together. I also help individuals and couples
work through their own traumas, grief, insecurities, and issues so they
can develop a better relationship with themselves and others, and
grow towards the life they want to have.

I have struggled with my own grief, traumas and insecurities and
have been through times when my relationship with myself was quite
toxic. I have been in therapy, myself, several times throughout my life.
Through that experience, I have learned how to find acceptance,
care, and love for myself, which has ultimately strengthened my
relationships with others and helped me to live a life with a perspective of gratitude and fulfillment.

Connection, I believe, is an incredibly powerful healing tool. I strive to help my clients find the healing power of connection to themselves and others through their grief or other traumatic life experiences. I strive to help my clients feel as comfortable as possible in our sessions. I spend a good bit of time getting to know my client and diving into their world before addressing major issues they might be bringing to therapy. I also find it important to spend some time helping my client determine what they want to be different in their lives and, from there, determine clear, obtainable goals together. I
make it my goal to meet my clients where they are at in their lives and walk alongside them in their journey towards their goals rather than telling them what they should be doing. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives.

I use EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy to help my clients work towards the goals they want to achieve. If my clients are open, I also enjoy bringing in my experience as a Yoga Teacher by engaging in gentle movement of the body to enhance clients’ processing in session. I am certified as a Grief Yoga® Teacher and particularly enjoy helping clients connect with their grief in a wholistic way. This includes groups or individual sessions in which I help clients use movement, breath, and sound to release pain and connect to more empowerment and love.

Some common outcomes might be to help clients develop a healthier relationship with themselves and their emotions, to connect with their grief to find more healing, to find more gratitude, acceptance and fulfillment in their lives, to learn how to communicate assertively with others, to draw healthy boundaries, to engage in self-care, to connect to their bodies through mindfulness and breathing practices, and learn how they can best cope with stressors in their lives. I try to help my clients remember that progress, NOT perfection is the key to success!

What are four words that clients use to describe you?
Non-judgmental, Active Listener, Caring, and Understanding.

I am pretty nerdy and can geek out on Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and Lord of the Rings. I love to practice yoga regularly and love to teach yoga classes. I am currently certified as a Yoga Teacher and a Grief Yoga® Teacher and am currently working to obtain my Yoga Therapy license. Singing is one of my passions and I enjoy every type of music, but mostly listen to Alternative and Jazz.

As part of the team at MPCW, I’m committed to being present with
you, working in collaboration with you to achieve your goals and helping you to improve your relationship with yourself and others in a healthy way.
