I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 14 years. I am also an established Reiki Master/Teacher.
My approach to healing is based on the theory that the environment in which we live is as unnatural to us as a Habitrail is to a hamster. The varying beliefs and rapid pace of our society can be confusing and detrimental to our health. Because we are not genetically designed to exist in such a world, we often experience mental, biological, and spiritual side-effects. These side-effects cause an imbalance in all aspects of our life, our sense of self, our perceptions, and how we relate to others, which can then create a negative state of being.
To help individuals rediscover their natural balance, I utilize a variety of therapeutic strategies, including cognitive therapy, mindfulness, and my own timeline therapy. Each of these strategies help my clients to better understand themselves, their core beliefs, and how the framing of their experiences may be affecting them negatively.
I’ve focused on couples, divorce therapy, anger/anxiety, depression, identity issues, LGBTQ+ community, and the residual side-effects of having had a negative belief system. I’ve also helped clients deal with negative/limiting perceptions of themselves created while in drug-treatment programs, psychiatric hospitals, or inpatient/outpatient programs. I’ve worked with many Asian/Middle Eastern immigrants and helped them adjust to western culture, and I assisted in reducing cultural confusion between first generation born Americans and their parents.
As a counselor, I incorporate everything I’ve learned in regards to caring for our mind, body, and spirit into my sessions. Whether I am working with individuals, families, couples or teens, I emphasize a non-judgmental approach to therapy in an effort to help you move forward in your life’s direction. I am accepting of all religions and cultures, as I believe we each have our own path.
I’m also certified to practice different forms of bodywork including neuromuscular therapy and Thai massage. I’ve taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, and teach individual classes in meditation and Reiki. Other things about me: Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, and Roald Dahl are my favorite authors, Alan Watts was a huge influence in my life, and I collect vinyl LPs. In my spare time I like to go bike riding, do yoga, go dancing, and work on my book series. I am the author of three books, each a collection of six psychological fables, Tales for Your Monkey’s Mind, More Tales for Your Monkey’s Mind, and Tales From Bombast’s Bookshelf. My fourth book will be published in 2023.The books are published by my company, Monkey Mind Tales®. More information about the books can be found at monkeymindtales.com.
